Press Release - For Immediate Release - 22 Aug 07 Air Cadets Looking to Begin Another Successful Year and They Want You! BRAMPTON - Looking for something new and exciting? Looking expand your horizons and make friends for life? Looking to break the bonds of earth and fly among the clouds? Are you between the ages of 12 - 19? Then the Royal Canadian Air Cadets may be just what you're looking for. 758 Argus Squadron, Brampton's oldest and largest Cadet Unit, is beginning it's new training year on September 10th, and is looking for new recruits. 758 Argus will be holding an open recruitment night on September 5th between 6:30pm and 9:30pm at the Squadron Headquarters located at 55 Avondale Blvd. "Cadets is the largest youth organization in Canada, and Air Cadets in particular will appeal to those young people who have an interest in aeronautics and flight" said Captain Collin Scott, Commanding Officer of 758. "The Air Cadet training program is designed with a focus on flight training and provides the opportunity to attain your private pilot's licence, which can be done before your 17th birthday". Not interested in flying? Air Cadets has something for you too! "The Air Cadet Program offers many different opportunities to participate in a diverse selection of activities such as marksmanship, canoeing, sports competitions, Canada Fitness, camping, hiking, and the list goes on and on", says Captain Scott. The end result? The Cadet Program has succeeded in producing responsible, active and engaged members of society in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. They learn valuable life and work skills like teamwork, leadership, and citizenship. Cadets also reap the personal benefits of increased self-confidence and physical fitness, learning how to take initiative, and how to make decisions. Cadets make valuable contributions to Canadian society on a daily basis in terms of environmental, citizenship and community activities.
